Welcome To our Montessori School Family!

We Help Your Child Reach For The Sky!

Home As the Ideal Learning Environment

Teachers around the world spend thousands of dollars and many hours painstakingly trying to make their classrooms look like a home. At Raising Arrows believe that family and home make the ideal learning environment, so our school is a home!

Homes are relaxing and never overstimulating like so many modern classrooms can be with bright flashy colors. Our classrooms are also calm, natural, inviting places where focus and independence are encouraged. To allow children to gain a passion for learning that will last for a lifetime.

Family is the ideal support system for any situation. We recognize that not everyone has the ideal and seek to help provide a supportive family environment. Taking the traditional Montessori mixed-age classrooms and blending them a bit to resemble more of a sibling environment. The children are encouraged to cement their learning by teaching and aiding younger students as a big brother or sister does.

Our Director (Mrs. Cowell) is a Montessori Homeschooling Mother of 6 children. Mrs. Cowell has taught for the last 9 years. Mrs. Cowell has more than 15 years of teaching experience, including home, church, tutoring, violin, and voice lessons, and was even a nanny before she got married to her dream man in uniform. Mrs. Cowell holds several certificates and working on her degree from BYU-Idaho she plans to pursue a Masters in Montessori Education.

each day is full of Brain Satisfying work Inside and out!

3-hour work blocks are a standard in Montessori Classrooms and schools.

We don't use the word "work" as a bad word! It's a great word!

Our Classroom has the five key areas of learning in the Montessori environment! Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Mathematics, and Culture. Cultural work includes social studies, art, and science. When the children are indecisive we encourage open-ended design work with Frobel-inspired work. We also have an outdoor classroom where we spend a good deal of time.

Children are free to move about where they will so long as they follow the community rules. Almost the entire work cycle time is devoted to the free study of the 5 learning areas. Children are free to choose their own work as long as they have been given the lesson the work requires. We only sit still by choice during this time.

During the work cycle, children are also able to choose to work independently or with others. Socialization is never frowned on in our classrooms! Manners are expected and taught but talking is welcome. In fact, outsiders often describe a Montessori classroom as quiet, while guides may describe it as a low hum of work.

Required sit still time is minimal and only required during Snack Time and Rug Time (circle time).

Rug Time is based on the Montessori Grace and Courtesy curriculum and helps children grow their social skills through role-play and social stories. Typically lessons are 1-on-1 but Grace and Courtesy are best taught in groups we have found. Plus, who doesn't love a great storytime?

Montessori Curriculum Is child-led, & time-proven!

Montessori is over 100 years old! Your child will develop a life-long love of work and learning!

We Focus On The

"Whole Child!"

At Raising Arrows Montessori, we follow a “whole child” philosophy where we partner with your family to improve your child’s Social, Emotional, Cognitive, Language, and Physical skills. Your child will learn to socialize, make friends, develop social and emotional skills, and be more than ready for life and further education! In fact, kindergarten teachers LOVE our students so much because they're such great learners!

Follow The Child!

Raising Arrows curriculum is based on The Montessori Philosophy. We believe the child shows the guide where they are in development and will not lead us astray. Guides are prepared to teach at all times and observe the children daily.

We will also teach you how to follow the child in your own home and recognize developmental needs and sensitive periods for learning!

We Love Questions!

We aim to help children become independent, self-confident, inquisitive, and enthusiastic learners by actively exploring their environment.

In fact, one of the best ways we can teach is to ask questions. "What are you creating?" "How does it work?" "Tell me about what you drew." Leading by example!

Many children go through the millions of questions a day phase. At Raising Arrows Montessori we have a unique spin on answering many of them. Instead of answering each one we teach children how to find their own answers, with responses like "I don't know. I think I saw a book on it in our library though."

Students often stop asking as we hear comments like "Don't ask her she doesn't know anything. Let's go look for a book on it"

While it's not always the answer we want to hear, we make it our goal to teach ourselves out of a job!

We Partner With You!

We assess our students daily through observation to discover what areas they're strong in, and what areas still need more work. 1-on-1 lessons are given based on these observations.

We keep you in the loop on what we're working on, and we also let you know exactly how your child is doing during our two parent-teacher conferences each year.

Process... Not Product!

We love to get messy, and one of the best times for that is at the art easel! We focus on the process, not the end product, and use a wide variety of art materials.

Children learn SO MUCH MORE when they have the chance to explore and play without rules of what art "should" look like at the end.

The Outdoor Classroom!

"When children come in contact with nature they reveal their strength." Maria Montessori

Our outdoor area is accessible as long as the weather permits every work cycle the whole cycle through! So if the child needs to focus on physical skills climbing or wants to do science experiments in puddles, or search for life, the sky is the limit!
